Matchroompool’s World Pool Masters Set to Make Historic Return to Germany

The world of cue sports is abuzz with anticipation as the prestigious Matchroom organised World Pool Masters gears up for its 2024 edition, set to take place from April 25th to 28th at Halle39 in Hildesheim, Germany. In collaboration with local organizer Moltke Sports and esteemed broadcaster Sky Sports, the event promises four days of electrifying action that will captivate audiences worldwide.

First introduced in Plymouth, England, back in 1993, the World Pool Masters has become synonymous with excellence, drawing the greatest talents in the sport to its stage over three remarkable decades. Icons like Francisco Bustamante, Darren Appleton, Shane Van Boening, and Joshua Filler have etched their names into its storied history. Notably, Ralf Souquet holds the record for the most World Pool Masters titles, securing his sixth victory in Quezon City, Philippines, in 2011.

This year’s edition, sanctioned as an official World Nineball Tour Invitational event, promises to be no exception. With the top 14 players selected from the WNT Rankings, along with two wildcard entries, the competition will be fierce. And for fans in the United Kingdom and Ireland, the excitement will be broadcast live on Sky Sports across all four days.

Ko Pin Yi, the reigning champion, will be looking to defend his title following a thrilling victory over Albania’s Eklent Kaçi last year in Brentwood, England. The stakes are high, with a substantial $125,000 prize fund up for grabs, ensuring every player will be giving their all on the felt.

In a first for the World Pool Masters, fans will have the opportunity to experience VIP Hospitality during the weekend sessions, offering an exclusive chance to mingle with the stars of the World Nineball Tour while enjoying premium seating, delectable meals, and complimentary beverages.

Halle39, the event’s venue, provides the perfect backdrop for this spectacle, boasting over 4,000 m² of space and state-of-the-art technical infrastructure to enhance the spectator experience. And for those looking to immerse themselves further in the atmosphere, the official World Pool Masters fans village in Hildesheim will offer a range of amenities and activities to enjoy.

With anticipation building and the world’s best cue artists ready to battle it out on the baize, the 2024 World Pool Masters promises to be an unforgettable celebration of skill, sportsmanship, and the enduring legacy of this iconic event. Stay tuned for all the action as history is made once again in the world of pool.
