Judd Trump Clinches 2024 German Masters Title in Dominant Victory Over Si Jiahui

On Sunday in Berlin, Judd Trump secured a 10-5 triumph over Si Jiahui, claiming the 2024 German Masters title at the impressive Tempodrom arena. Trump dominated the showdown in front of a massive crowd, marking his fourth final appearance in the event’s history and securing his third German Masters victory after successes in 2020 and 2021.

The 34-year-old Englishman has been on a stellar run this season, clinching four ranking titles and bringing his overall career tally to 27, just one behind the legendary Steve Davis. Despite earning over half a million pounds in prize money this term, Trump remains second in the official world rankings, narrowly missing out on surpassing Ronnie O’Sullivan.

In a closely contested early exchange of the German Masters final, the opponents traded the opening four frames. However, Trump seized control after the mid-session interval, winning three consecutive frames to take a 5-2 lead. Si, competing in his first-ever ranking event final, managed to win a crucial last frame in the first session to stay within reach.

Entering the evening session, the 21-year-old Si showcased his skill with an impressive 123-century break, narrowing the gap to just one frame. Trump, seemingly inspired by his young challenger’s performance, responded with a trio of rapid frames, featuring breaks of 113, 108, and 74.

Although Si briefly rallied with a 64-point run, he couldn’t withstand the pressure from his esteemed opponent. Trump secured the final two frames with breaks of 66 and 81, sealing his victory. In addition to the £80,000 champion’s prize, Trump also claimed the £150,000 BetVictor European Series bonus.

With the Welsh Open still to come in the eight-event swing, Trump holds a commanding lead in the standings, making it nearly impossible for others to catch up. With his confidence soaring and another ranking title in hand, Trump’s pursuit of his own record of six titles in a single campaign may be within reach.
