Ding Junhui Brings Star Power to Cazoo Champion of Champions Amid O’Sullivan’s Unexpected Exit

Ding Junhui is set to participate in the esteemed Cazoo Champion of Champions tournament in Bolton on Wednesday. The Chinese professional, having just competed in the International Championship last week, expressed his delight as he boarded a flight from China this morning and is expected to arrive in the UK tonight.

His first match in the tournament will be against Zhang Anda, his fellow countryman, who secured victory in the International Championship last weekend, defeating Ronnie O’Sullivan in the process. The event is scheduled to take place at Bolton’s Toughsheet Stadium.

Ding earned his spot in the Champions’ event by winning the Six-Red World Championship in Thailand earlier this year. At 36, he stands as the most successful Asian player in the history of snooker and is widely recognized as the greatest Asian player of all time. With 14 ranking titles to his name, including three UK Championships, Ding Junhui replaces the defending champion O’Sullivan, who withdrew from the Champion of Champions event this morning, expressing his apologies to fans on X (formerly Twitter).
