Robbie McGuigan and Joel Connolly have clinched coveted spots in the upcoming BetVictor Northern Ireland Open tournament in Belfast. Their entry into this prestigious event is the result of their exceptional performances on the amateur snooker circuits.

Scheduled to take place from October 22nd to October 29th at the Waterfront Hall, this world-ranking tournament boasts the participation of snooker’s brightest stars. Mark Allen, a local favorite, seeks to secure a remarkable third consecutive title after his victories in 2021 and 2022.

Hailing from Antrim, the 19-year-old McGuigan has impressively clinched the Northern Ireland Amateur Championship for the past three years, maintaining his top position in the national rankings. In 2022, he even secured a victory in the qualifying rounds of the World Championship. Meanwhile, Connolly, a 15-year-old prodigy from Belfast, has claimed both the under-21 and under-18 national titles in the current year.

The anticipation builds as their names will soon be included in the tournament draw, which is set to be released shortly after the BetVictor English Open concludes on October 8th.

The opening day of the event, Sunday, October 22nd, promises to be an exhilarating showcase of snooker, with many of the sport’s legendary players competing, especially among the top 16 seeds.

This thrilling tournament will be televised worldwide by Eurosport, discovery+, and various other global broadcasters. It forms an integral part of the prestigious BetVictor Home Nations Series.
