The 2023 SVB Junior Open, honoring the legendary five-time US Open champion Shane Van Boening, is set to coincide with the US Open Pool Championship at Harrah’s Resort in Atlantic City. The event will run from September 28 to September 29.

Over the past year, Matchroom’s dedication to nurturing grassroots pool talent has grown significantly. All of their renowned multi-table tournaments now include a junior competition with a substantial $10,000 prize pool, open to participants aged 17 and under. Notably, Mika Van Berkel from the Netherlands emerged victorious at the Fillers’ Junior Open, triumphing over Walter Laikre in the final. This followed his runner-up performance at the JS Junior Open in London, where he competed against Maks Benko.

Matchroom Pool remains committed to the World Nineball Tour, offering equal opportunities to all junior players with free entry. The event’s final will be broadcast live on YouTube, and highlights will be featured on the Sky Sports program on September 24. Onboard Sportswear will supply custom SVB Junior Open jerseys free of charge to all participants, ensuring they look and feel the part as they compete in the same prestigious arena as the historic US Open Pool Championship, scheduled for September 25 to September 30, 2023, at Harrah’s Resort in Atlantic City, USA. Additionally, Aramith will generously present the winner with a set of Aramith Black balls from their championship match, allowing them to cherish every moment of their prestigious Junior final.

Expressing his excitement, Shane Van Boening stated, “I eagerly anticipate witnessing the next generation of junior pool players compete once again in what is undeniably one of the world’s premier tournaments. Last year, I witnessed immense potential in the participants, and we’ve seen tangible results with our previous winner, Khalid Alghamdi, who has since excelled in Premier League Pool and the World Cup of Pool. He now holds a ranking within the top 128 players in the WNT Rankings.”
